Volunteering

The cornerstone of North Whidbey SC is our extensive network of dedicated volunteers. These volunteers participate as board members, coaches, special event and tournament volunteers, and others who support our club and its teams in numerous ways.

As parents and caretakers, we naturally want everything that is beneficial and best for our children. Your involvement can help assure that their experience will be high in rewards and low in frustration.

The purpose of this program is to spread the work throughout the club instead of just a few volunteers and board members doing everything. There may be other duties that will arise during each season and those duties will be posted when they become available.

We serve 600+ players in our club annually. However, we often have fewer than 20 volunteers to manage everything it takes to bring soccer to our community. We need the help!

Here are the most pressing needs we have.

  • Coaches
  • Assistant Coaches
  • Information Table Help
  • Field Marshals
  • Special Event Coordinators
  • Tournament Assistance

Coaches and Assistant Coaches – Volunteer coaches form the core of the North Whidbey SC experience and are the heart and soul of the teams. We are grateful for your diligent effort, determination, and the time and energy you spend helping our players develop their skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork in pursuit of excellence in soccer. Every new season brings a new group of U6 boys and girls teams to our club and so, this age group typically needs additional volunteers. If you would like to participate as one of our valuable coaches or assistant coaches this season, please contact [email protected].

Fields/Gear – North Whidbey SC strives to make the many fields it maintains both playable and beautiful for our players and supporters alike. At the beginning of each season, these fields need to be measured with goals placed and gear sorted and issued. Each weekend we need fields flagged and field marshals to help visiting teams and spectators locate the correct fields. At the end of the season, gear is returned and resorted, so volunteers are always needed.  If you are interested, please contact our Rec Director.

Field Marshals – This role serves as ambassador from North Whidbey SC to our visitors and spectators. Field Marshals oversees the activity and conduct of spectators off the field of play.  They will assist spectators with questions, ensure all spectators are in appropriate areas around the field and enforce our No Dogs Policy. If you would like to help maintain and patrol our fields this season, please contact our Rec Director at [email protected].

Special Events – We are always looking for help getting our special events organized and running smoothly. For more information or if you are interested in helping this way, please contact our Vice President at [email protected]

Picture Day Coordinator- We need a parent that would be willing to help coordinate, organize and manage our picture day.  Coordinator will facilitate the distribution of all photo packets by team, usually through on-site (home) distribution over an organized, one week period.  Coordinator will also organize assistants that will work a 2-hour shift on Picture Days.  Assistants will help organize teams at check-in and facilitate the completion of all necessary paperwork.  Volunteers do not assist with photography. If you would like to help, please contact our Sponsorship Director at [email protected].

Holland Happening/4th of July Parade – NWSC marches in these 2 parades!  If you would like to help, please contact our Sponsorship Director at [email protected].
